Introduction

This itinerary moves between Rome and Florence, combining historic sites with moments of everyday life and contemporary culture. Each experience is designed to offer context, perspective, and a deeper understanding of how these cities continue to shape Italian identity.

Day 1: Arrival in Rome

Arrival in Rome and private transfer to your hotel. Meet your expert guide for an introductory walking tour through the historic center, designed to ease into the city’s rhythm. Walk along narrow streets and lively piazzas, visiting the PantheonPiazza Navona, and the Trevi Fountain, understanding how ancient, baroque, and modern Rome coexist.  

Dinner at a selected local restaurant.

Day 2: Rome

Meet your guide for an in-depth exploration of ancient Rome. Visit the Colosseum and the Foro Romano, where political, social, and religious life once intersected. 

Lunch in a traditional trattoria, followed by free time to absorb the city at your own pace.

Day 3: Vatican City

Visit the Vatican Museums with your expert guide, focusing on the artistic and historical context behind their collections.  

In the afternoon, enjoy free time in Prati, a local neighborhood known for boutiques, workshops, and everyday Roman life.  

End the day with an aperitivo at the Terrace of Castel Sant’Angelo, overlooking the Tiber.

Day 4: Rome as locals

Begin the day at the Galleria Borghese, home to a refined collection set within landscaped gardens. After lunch, walk through Via Margutta and Via del Babbuino, streets long associated with artists and craftsmen, before reaching Piazza di Spagna

Day 5: Your Rome

This day is dedicated to exploring Rome through your personal interests, supported by our local expertise. Options may include: 

  • Food & wine experiences in Trastevere. 
  • Archaeological sites such as the Appian Way, Terme di Caracalla or Casa di Nerone. 
  • Contemporary art at MAXI or Fondazione Giuliani.  
  • Architecture-focused walks in the Coppedè district or EUR.  
  • Art-themed itineraries centered on Caravaggio. 
  • Spiritual heritage, including lesser-known basilicas and relic sites such as Basilica di Santa Croce in Gerusalemme with the Relique Chapel.

Day 6: From Rome to Florence

Private transfer to the train station and high-speed train to Florence. After check-in and lunch, meet your guide for an introductory walking tour of the city, setting Florence in its historical and cultural context.  

The day concludes with a hands-on cooking class and dinner with a local chef, offering insight into Tuscan food traditions.

Visit the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia, focusing on how Florence shaped Renaissance art and thought.  

In the afternoon, explore the Oltarno district, known for workshops and local life, before walking up to San Miniato al Monte for views over the city and its surrounding hills.

Day 8: Chianti

Leave Florence for a day in the Chianti hills, understanding how the city has always been connected to its countryside. 

Visit the Certosa di Firenze, followed by lunch at a contemporary winery where architecture and landscape reflect evolving wine culture. Continue to a second estate focused on natural or low-intervention wines.

Day 9: Departure from Rome

High-speed train back to Rome, followed by a private transfer to the airport for departure.
