“Matteo,
You did a great job of planning our trip and making the arrangements! The Citroen car was fuel efficient, comfortable and carried our luggage in the back with no trouble. Our guides were professional, personable, enthusiastic about the subject matter and, in Serena’s case, currently digging in the area and personally involved in recovering objects from the Getty Museum in L.A. for display in the local archeological museum. We could not have asked for a better group. With one exception, your choice of accommodations for us was excellent. You chose a range of facilities which reflected their locations and avoided bland commercialism. We certainly appreciated the extra help from the I-Phone you provided. After we learned to use it, it was more reliable than the navigation software in the car. The two wine tastings were a welcome addition, particularly the one we visited after Mount Etna.
As far as Alice and I are concerned, the only disappointing facility was La Finestra Sulla Valle. It was very hard to find because it was not on the Viale della Vittoria even though its address led us to believe that it was. It actually was a block off Viale della Vittoria behind a plaza that fronted on the Viale della Vittoria. I called the proprietress who explained the location. To find it, Alice and Nancy had to walk along the street in order to see the very small sign identifying the facility, which was not a hotel, but an apartment within a building apparently housing other apartments or offices as well. The proprietors don’t live on the premises and asked us to wait (double parked on a busy street because we could not find a parking spot). We could not wait, but went instead directly to our tour. Laura, our guide, was kind enough after the tour to lead us back and show us to a nearby parking spot. Once we got to the building there was no indication which buzzer we should push to gain entry. After we gained entry we were in a completely dark space, so that we had to keep the door open for light until the proprietor arrived from the third floor. The facility itself was small, but adequate, and seemed well maintained. The proprietor gave us a recommendation to a nearby, very pleasant restaurant for dinner. Breakfast choices were few, but sufficient.
I am editing our pictures and, if I find any that are unique, I will send you copies. Thanks again for your efforts in making our trip a success.
Regards,
Al”
