“Matteo,
We are back in the swing of things here at home, and finally over our jet lag! We all had a fine time and our family really enjoyed the vacation.
The only thing that I want to also pass along to you is a suggestion to warn novice travelers like us of the time it takes to negotiate the airport in Rome.
We arrived at the airport in plenty of time. We passed thru the Delta check-in, got boarding passes, submitted passports, and entered a shopping area where we leisurely enjoyed a much-too-long breakfast (incorrectly thinking all we had left was a short walk to our boarding gate). Then, after passing through what seemed like several more shopping areas and a long, long maze of interconnecting passageways we entered the massive, overflowing customs area. My heart sunk, thinking we would surely miss our flight. After standing in the slow moving line for a while I explained our plight to an airport attendant who redirected us through the stanchions and we made it just fine.
A slight bit of last-minute terror that we could chuckle about afterwards.
All-in-all our trip was very enjoyable. Our hotels were nice, our tour guides were outstanding, and I believe we all gained weight. I know I did.
Thank you and Daniela both for all of your assistance.
John”
