Introduction

This itinerary follows ingredients, recipes, and shared meals across Sicily, using food as a way to understand the island’s cultural layers and regional diversity.

Day 1: Palermo

Arrival in Palermo and transfer to your hotel. 

After lunch, meet your local guide for a walking tour of the historic center, designed as an introduction to both the city and the culinary journey ahead. 

Along the way, stop to taste pane e panelle, one of Palermo’s most emblematic street foods, rooted in everyday life and Arab influences.  

Dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 2: Palermo markets and monuments

Begin the day in the Ballarò Market, one of Palermo’s most vibrant food markets. Walk among stalls of fish, vegetables, and spices while your guide explains how raw ingredients reflect Sicily’s geography and history. Start the morning like locals do, with a cannolo 

Continue with guided visits to the Palatine Chapel and Palermo Cathedral, where architecture mirrors the same cultural layering found in Sicilian cuisine.  

In the afternoon, take part in a hands-on arancini cooking experience in a private home. Learn traditional techniques and share dinner with your hosts, gaining insight into family recipes passed down through generations.

Day 3: Taormina

Before leaving Palermo, travel uphill to visit the Cathedral of Monreale, whose mosaics offer one of Sicily’s most powerful visual narratives.  

Continue toward an historic restaurant, where traditional Sicilian flavors are reinterpreted through contemporary cuisine, bridging heritage and innovation.  

After lunch, travel east toward Taormina.

Day 4: Mount Etna

Today is dedicated to Mount Etna, where soil, altitude, and climate create one of Italy’s most distinctive wine regions. Explore the volcanic landscape and visit a local winery for a wine tasting paired with lunch. Learn how lava soil and extreme conditions shape both agriculture and flavor, then return to Taormina for dinner.

Day 5: Catania

Depart Taormina and head south, stopping in Catania. Begin the day as locals do, with granita and brioche, before visiting the market and exploring the city through its food culture.  

Take part in a cannolo cooking class, learning techniques and variations of one of Sicily’s most iconic desserts.  

Continue to Siracusa and check in at your hotel.

Day 6: Siracusa and Ortigia

Enjoy a guided walking tour of Ortigia, the historic heart of Siracusa, where food, architecture and daily life are intertwined. Lunch at a local restaurant, followed by free time to explore at your own pace.

Day 7: Modica

Travel to Modica, famous for its cold-processed chocolate, introduced during Spanish rule in the 16th century. Visit a local producer for a tasting and learn how ancient techniques continue to define its unique texture and flavor. 

After lunch, explore Ragusa Ibla, before stopping in Scicli for a lemon granita at Bar del Popolo, a simple but deeply local ritual.

Day 8: Noto

Visit Noto, known for its Baroque architecture and surrounding agricultural landscape. Take part in a cooking class focused on local cheeses, where food becomes a gateway to understanding rural traditions. 

On the return journey, stop in Marzamemi to visit the historic tuna processing site, a reminder of Sicily’s long relationship with the sea.

Day 9: Agrigento

Depart Siracusa and travel west toward Agrigento. Along the way, stop in Caltagirone, renowned for its ceramic tradition. Food and table culture in Italy are inseparable, and ceramics have long played a central role in Family and communal life. Visit artisan workshops and enjoy lunch surrounded by this living craft tradition. 

Continue to Agrigento and check in at your countryside resort.

Day 10: Valley of the Temples

Visit the Valley of the Temples, where ancient Greek history meets Sicily’s agricultural landscape. Continue into the historic center before enjoying lunch, then return to the resort in the afternoon.
