Days 1-3: Alassio - Sanremo-Dolceacqua

Arrive at Nice International Airport, and transfer to the West coast of the Italian Riviera and your Hotel in the area. Immerse yourself in the region’s rich history, indulge in delectable cuisine, and bask in the Mediterranean splendor that has captivated travelers for centuries.

Discover Sanremo through the lens of its culinary specialties!  You will start from the modern town with its imposing buildings dating back to the Belle Epoque and then moving to a part of the town plenty of small nice shops where locals usually go for shopping and where you can taste “sardenaira” and “farinata”, just made by the local bakery, with a glass of the local red wine Rossese.

You will later visit the local food market where you can chat with the shop keepers, who are always happy to show their products to the people.

After a few stops to taste these local specialties, you will continue to walk up to the medieval town “La Pigna” and discover the steep and narrow alleys, enjoying as well some cookies like “il bacio (the kiss) di Sanremo”.

End the tour next to the ocean and the traditional old harbor, tasting a delicious ice cream in front of the Mediterranean.

You will visit the nearby village of Dolceacqua. Dolceacqua, a charming medieval village in the heart of the Ligurian countryside and border with France. With its cobblestone streets, humpback bridge, and pastel-colored houses, it’s a fairytale come to life. Explore the historic center, visit Doria Castle for panoramic views, and savor the renowned Rossese wine. Experience the rustic beauty of Dolceacqua and get lost in its timeless charm.

Days 4-5: Discover the Villages of Camogli & the scenic Cinque Terre

 

continue your trip to the East coast of the Italian Riviera “Riviera di Levante” .  Embark on a scenic bus transfer from Sanremo to Sestri Levante, immersing yourself in the breathtaking beauty of the Italian Riviera. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to make a stop in the charming town of Camogli, where you can enjoy an independent visit and a delightful lunch on your own. As you arrive in Camogli, be captivated by its colorful waterfront and picturesque harbor, adorned with fishing boats bobbing gently in the clear azure waters. Take your time to explore this quaint seaside town, known for its old-world charm and relaxed atmosphere. Wander through the narrow streets lined with pastel-hued buildings and indulge in some window shopping at the local boutiques and artisanal shops. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the impressive Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, an architectural gem that overlooks the town.

Following your exploration of Camogli, rejoin the bus transfer and continue your journey to the enchanting town of Sestri Levante. As you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by its picturesque beaches and the iconic Baia delle Favole (Bay of Fairy Tales), a place of enchantment and beauty.

reach Monterosso by train.  For today, we have arranged a full day to explore the Five Lands: 5 miles of rocky coast, covered in vineyards; 5 villages clinging on the cliffs. The perfect place for amazing pics, hiking or relax in the picturesque harbors!

With your tour leader today you will visit thre of these famous villages: Riomaggiore, Vernazza and Monterosso.

 

You will first visit Monterosso al Mare, the picturesque marina with its tall, narrow houses of the “Old Town” adorned with beautiful architecture. Explore the artisan shops, cafes, and restaurants that give the village its vibrant atmosphere.

 

Visit of Vernazza a postcard-perfect destination with a stunning harbor. Explore the narrow streets lined with colorful houses and wander up to the remains of Doria Castle for awe-inspiring views. Indulge in a leisurely lunch at a waterfront restaurant, savoring fresh seafood and regional specialties. Spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach or exploring the quaint shops and boutiques.

Visit of Rimomaggiore. Explore the charming streets lined with vibrant buildings, and ascend the hillside to take in panoramic views of the Ligurian Sea. Delight in fresh seafood delicacies and sip on local wines at traditional bar

From Rimoaggiore you will take the boat to Portovenere, a colourful fishermen village at the entrance of La Spezia Gulf. Portovenere is the natural border of Cinque Terre.

Days 6-7

Today you will enjoy a boat experience to admire and explore the beautiful Tigullio Gulf and Golfo del Paradiso. Portofino and the Tigullio Gulf are symbols of Italy throughout the world. The coast is a sequence of fashionable resorts with their marinas, pastel-colored houses, first-rate sports facilities and the seductive atmosphere of the Dolce Vita.
Reach Santa Margherita and, after about 30 minutes of navigation, you will reach San Fruttuoso.

Visit of San Fruttuoso, you will visit the famous abbey, nestled in a rocky cove, and explore its intriguing history. Enjoy the crystal-clear waters for swimming or snorkeling before returning to which can be reached only from the sea. After the visit, continue by boat to Portofino for a tour of this famous luxury resort.

Visit of Portofino and admire the colorful houses that line the harbor of Portofino, and hike up to the picturesque Castello Brown for panoramic views of the Ligurian coastline.

At the end of the visit, time to enjoy Portofino on your own and prior returning to Santa Margherita by boat and a local train to your hotel.
