“Thank you Matteo. The entire trip was great. The planning and communication and your work was perfect.
–We loved the truffle hunting experience, and the people that ran that one were so friendly and fun and knowledgeable.
–We loved Paolo and the walking tours. He was funny and smart. The Perugia tour was the favorite, but Orvieto was also really great. And last minute we added the Underground to our Orvieto tour, and the kids loved that.
–The Antonelli cooking class was superb, she was wonderful. My wife Shelly really loved that. And the wine was very good. And after cooking, we got a winery tour also, so we spent most of our day there.
–The one experience no one liked was the SAIO winery. The wines were not good and the food was so-so. Doing the walking tour on your own was not compelling. And the owner’s daughter left after 15 minutes and had a brand new employee left with us to do everything and she didn’t know anything. I would not recommend this one. Not worth it.
–Loved the Spello hotel, really great. Quaint and fun and a great view.
–Loved, loved staying in the Abbey, what a great experience, one of a kind.
–The Todi hotel was ok. It was a bit run down. The check in area smelled really bad of smoke, like just not good. The service was good, the view was great, but it was ok overall. I would stay there again, but I wouldn’t seek it out. I don’t know what the pricing was like on this one, so I would need to know more.
We really enjoyed Spello and Assisi and Orvietto the most. And seeing Civita Bagnoregio was really worth it. We went early and avoided the crowds. Great place to visit, wouldn’t want to stay there. The small tour of the cisterns in Citerna was also cool as part of our truffle hunt.
Food. We had great meals. We didn’t love La Cantina di Spello as they weren’t super welcoming at that one, we felt like Americans who were tolerated. And the food was gourmet, but just ok.
We had a great meal at Hosteria de Dada in Spello, really small and intimate, and they didn’t speak English but were super friendly and helpful. Very casual, but really good.
We loved our meals in Todi at Ristorante Cavour (might be everyone’s favorite), and at La Cantina del Mercataccio (also great)
Lunch sitting outside in Orvietto at Il Dialogo was a favorite, and the lunch we had at Enotca al Duomo was also very tasty, and we ate outside in view of the cathedral.
That is all I can think of. I am happy to answer any questions or talk if you need too.
We would definitely like to come to Italy again, so I will be coming back to you when we are ready.
Stay in touch!
Scott”
