Daniela:
Sorry for not sending you a note earlier. We had a fabulous trip. Probably the favorite of my lifetime. Everything you organized was on point.
Starting at the beginning, we loved the water taxi to our apartment in Venice. The location was a really good one and the apartment was perfect for us and very nice. Venice was magical! We enjoyed the boat tour and thank you very much for making that happen. Burano especially was so pretty. The tour in the afternoon maybe was a little ambitious, but we enjoyed Maria (I think that was her name) and the Basilica. Lastly, we very much enjoyed your choice for dinner and would recommend this restaurant- Osteria Bancogiro.
We enjoyed the train ride to Florence and our time there. This was my favorite apartment. Upon our arrival however, I stopped in at the reservation office announcing that we were here to check in, at which point the woman replied that we were in Elon University! The apartment was actually through the back entrance and I gave her my apologies! The apartment was beautiful, spacious and lovely overall. We went to the market centrale and bought some leather bags, coats etc. We were starving, so we just stopped in to a close by restaurant. This little restaurant was one of our favorites! No tourists, just people have their lunch. It was really inexpensive and the food was wonderful. I wish I had written down the name for you so I could recommend this. Our tour in Florence was nice, although rainy. We called the tour guide ‘the philosopher’ and he was very passionate. I found him very interesting and he gave us a lot of good information. The rest of my family felt he spent too much time expounding on things. He was probably their least favorite guide. I thought he was fine.
The trip to Chianti was a must and our guide was such a nice man. Although it continued to rain into this day we had a very wonderful day and lunch there. This was a highlight for sure.
On to Rome, via Perugia. My favorite places were Venice and Perugia. I loved Perugia and we had a fantastic tour guide there and learned so much. I would have spent more time in this beautiful city.
We began our tour here later in the day and had dinner at Osteria Sant’Ana. Great restaurant with a very funny waiter. The food was phenomenal. We enjoyed the walking tour with two young ladies as our guide. Another highlight and some yummy food.
We enjoyed the tour of the Colosseum and our guide was a nice young man with a lot of knowledge. He was very enthusiastic. The Vatican was not a favorite tour. On a Saturday, it was extremely crowded and we were anxious to have it over with. I was happy to have seen it before.
I think that’s it! You and your company were fabulous and I would recommend you to my friends and family.
Thanks again Daniela.
