Introduction

The itinerary follows a gentle northbound route along the Adriatic coast, balancing structured activities with free time. Each experience is selected to engage different ages without separating children from the overall journey.

 

Day 1: Arrival in Bologna

Arrival in Bologna and private transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure, offering time to settle in and begin to observe the city’s atmosphere, where porticoes, squares, and daily life are closely interconnected.

Day 2: Bologna

Explore Bologna with a local guide, focusing on lesser-known elements of the historic center, including small architectural details and local curiosities. 

In the afternoon, take part in a family-friendly cooking class, preparing fresh pasta through simple, shared techniques.

Day 3: Emilia-Romagna

A day dedicated to exploring the region through one of two options: 

  • Food Valley Experience, visiting producers to understand how food culture is structured around local production.  
  • Modena and Ferrari, combining historic center exploration with a visit to the Ferrari Museum.

Day 4: Ravenna

Transfer to Ravenna and visit selected monuments where the mosaics define the visual identity of the city. In the afternoon, take part in a hands-on mosaics workshop, where participants work directly with materials such as tesserae, tools and colored glass; guided by an artisan, the experience breaks down historical techniques into simple steps, allowing both adults and children to understand how images are constructed piece by piece.

Day 5: Po Delta

Transfer to Sant’Alberto, gateway to the Po Delta. Follow an e-bike route toward Comacchio, passing through wetlands and lagoon environments, then return to Ravenna in the afternoon.

Day 6: From Ravenna to Chioggia via Pomposa

Travel north with a stop at the Abbazia di Pomposa, introducing the structure of a medieval monastic complex: the church, with its fresco cycles and mosaic floors, together with the cloister and surrounding spaces, reflects how religious communities organized both spiritual and practical life in the Po Delta landscape.  

In the afternoon, continue to Chioggia, where canals and fishing activities define the urban layout.

Day 7: Chioggia, Lagoon Experience

Spend the day with local fishermen in the Venetian Lagoon, observing techniques and understanding how work and environment are connected.

Day 8: From Chioggia to Trieste

Travel toward Trieste, stopping to walk part of the Rilke Trail, an accessible panoramic trail, suitable for families, offering open coastal views and a clear introduction to the Karst landscape overlooking the Gulf of Trieste.  

In the afternoon, visit Duino Castle, a historic residence overlooking the Adriatic.

Day 9: Trieste

Explore Trieste with a guide, focusing on its position between Italian, Central European, and maritime worlds. The visit includes historic cafés connected to intellectual and cultural life.

Day 10: Karst Plateau

Explore the Karst Plateau, a limestone plateau shaped by wind and geology, where landscape and local production are closely connected, offering a clear introduction to the natural environment surrounding Trieste.
