Introduction

The itinerary follows materials and techniques across different regions, moving from food production and ceramics in Campania to jewelry, leather, and artistic practices in Tuscany and Umbria. Each experience is connected to the place where it developed, linking craft to cultural context.

 

Day 1: Sorrento

Arrival in Naples and private transfer to Sorrento. First walk through the historic center, where narrow streets, workshops, and piazzas reflect the structure of a town shaped by trade and coastal agriculture.

Day 2: Gragnano

Morning dedicated to the historic center of Sorrento, observing how daily life unfolds between small shops and local production.  

In the afternoon, visit a historic pasta factory in the Gragnano area, where production techniques are closely linked to climate, raw materials, and local knowledge. Observe the process and understand how pasta has evolved from an everyday necessity to regulated, high-quality production.

Day 3: Vietri sul Mare

Drive along the Amalfi Coast, where terraces, cliffs, and sea define the built environment. Reach Vietri sul Mare and take part in a ceramic workshop, working directly with clay and color. The experience is placed within a town where ceramics are not decorative but part of material culture.

Day 4: From Sorrento to Cortona

Private transfer to Cortona, crossing from coast to inland landscape. First, walk through the town, understanding its elevated position and relationship with the Valdichiana.

Day 5: Cortona

Guided exploration of Cortona, focusing on its Etruscan origins and medieval urban structure. In the afternoon, visit a family-run jewelry atelier, where craftsmanship is presented as both a technical process and a relational experience.

Day 6: From Tuscany to Umbria

Transfer to Città di Castello, crossing a more rural and less structured landscape. Introduction to the town and its context within Umbria. Visit a traditional painting workshop, observing techniques such as fresco preparation, gesso, and gilding, followed by a short hands-on session.

Day 7: Perugia

Guided walk through the city, where medieval layering and Renaissance interventions coexist. In the afternoon, take part in a chocolate workshop in a historic café, combining raw material knowledge, tasting, and practical creation.

Day 8: From Umbria to Florence

Transfer to Florence and an introduction walk focused on the city’s artisan geography, particularly the Oltarno district, where workshops still define the urban fabric.

Morning dedicated to a perfume-making workshop, exploring Florence’s historical role in alchemy and early perfumery traditions. In the afternoon, continue exploring the city with visits that connect materials, trade and culture.

Day 10: Florence leather tradition

In the morning, visit the Uffizi Gallery and the city center with your private guide.  

In the afternoon, take part in a leather workshop linked to finishing and personalization, understanding leather as both a material and an economic element.
