We asked for a lot in a short period of time, zooming from one place to the next. I know it was a crazy itinerary and not easy to put together, so I greatly appreciate your time. Everything was outstanding!
The Jewish ghetto, and I must say that was extraordinary. The guide brought so much into focus that we were not aware of, such as “syndrome k” at the hospital.
Without question, our guides were superb. Each one, in each location. Passionate about history and architecture. Just fabulous. In all my travels, I’ve not had better. Attentive, intelligent, skilled at capturing our attention and imagination. Again, we learned a great deal.
The theatre in Ortigia was a profound sight for me. I studied playwriting in college and have always been involved in theatre. Our guide told us how the town supports the space, and they stage the Greek masterpieces during the evenings. We tried to get a ticket, but they were sold out. It was deeply moving to me that we couldn’t get in! Demonstrates the love and appreciation people have. And our cooking class, starting with the market, was extraordinary.
Taormina’s theatre was magnificent. My favorite thing. We were in Taormina during the end of the Easter holiday, and the streets were decorated beautifully. Waiting for dinner, I sat on a step, and suddenly a reverential procession came by. I captured the whole thing on video. Stunning.
