Days 1-3: The Beauty of Venice

Start your italian vacation with a private tour of the typical Venetian “Bacari” (wine bar). Taste some delicious Venetian-style tapas called Cicchetti while a local sommelier will guide you into the world of Prosecco, Spritz and other extraordinary wines from Veneto. Guided Tour of the city highlights: St. Mark’s square and Saint Mark’s Church (a rare example of Byzantine art with its golden mosaics), the Doge Palace (living witness of the history, art and culture of the Venetian Republic) and then through the small “calle” (the typical Venetian streets), out of the beaten tourist areas. Take a ride on a Gondola to admire Venice from its canals. Discover the Venetian craftsmen with a visit to one of the oldest Masks workshop. The artisan will explain ancient and modern procedures of the creation of a Venetian Mask. Take an excursion to the islands of the Venetian lagoon and visit first Murano, where you can admire the antique art of making glass in a glass blowing factory. Then continue to Burano, with its brightly colored houses, renowned for the lace-making tradition.

Days 4-7: Hidden gems of Northern Italy

Discover the town often called little Venice for its stunning old town apparently floating on a network of canals: Chioggia. Proceed then to Ferrara for a guided tour of this beautiful city part of the Unesco Heritage. Stop in Verona, the “City of Love” for the legendary tragedy Romeo and Juliet. Stop in Mantua for a private guided of the spectacles of the city. A guided tour will show you the beautiful Palazzo Ducale, a maze-like building with the famous “Camera degli Sposi”, the St. Lawrence church and Piazza Delle Erbe. Proceed to the tiny village of Sabbioneta (another Unesco site), built by Vespasiano Gonzaga Colonna to be like an ideal city for its duchy. The nearby city of Cremona is considered to be the town of lutes, as Stradivari, Amati and other famous producers had built here a lutes-making school which is still alive nowadays. A private guide will show you the famous Torrazzo, the baptistery, then take you to the lutes museum where historical lutes are on display.

Days 8-10: From Lake Iseo to Milan

Leave your ship and take an excursion to the nearby Lake Iseo. Arrive in Iseo and take a boat to Montisola, the biggest island on a lake in Europe. Enjoy some time at leisure on Montisola. Indulge for lunch in one of the many restaurants where you can try the excellent locally caught fish. In the afternoon visit a winery in the nearby Franciacorta region. Visit Bergamo on your way to Milan: from the lower part of Bergamo take the funicular leading you to the upper part to visit the most important monuments: Piazza Vecchia (old square), the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, Colleoni Chapel, S. Alessandro Cathedral and the Fortress. Take a guided tour of Milan including the Duomo cathedral, the Galleria and La Scala theater.
