Day 1: Fall Under the Spell of Lucca

Lucca is a real gem in Tuscany; a walled city where you can enjoy a relaxing walk in the narrow streets with its nice shops. You can visit the beautiful Cathedral, the Amphitheatre Square, the Roman ruins; the town’s most famous church, the San Martino cathedral and the adjacent Piazza Napoleone. Passing the antique town centre of Lucca you will reach the beautiful Piazza dell’Anfiteatro, to end at Piazza S.Frediano where you can admire its thirteenth century mosaic. A welcome dinner will complete the day.

Days 2-4: Take in the Spectacular Countryside of Tuscany

Start your Tuscan Adventure in the coastal region of Maremma, in Bolgheri, the village that became fashionable with the rise of the Sassicaia, one of the original Super Tuscan wines. Take a tour of one of the world’s most important wineries, sampling three superb wines. Lunch in Bolgheri at the end of the visit. In the village of Chianti, settle in for a private cooking class in a beautiful farmhouse and have lunch with the chef, savoring the Italian and Tuscan dishes you prepared together. Move on to UNESCO World Heritage Site of San Gimignano and explore this walled medieval hill town surrounded by vineyards. Spend a full day in Val D’Orcia and visit the iconic estate in Montalcino for an exclusive wine tasting. Have lunch in Montepulciano, a charming Tuscan village that has been producing wine since the Roman era. Take a tour of its wine cellars and relish the chance to raise a glass of the esteemed Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.

  • Explore the little village of Bolgheri and taste Super Tuscan wines

  • Take a cooking class at a farmhouse in Chianti and learn to prepare classic Tuscan fare

  • Explore scenic Val d’Orcia and tour the storied wine cellars of Montepulciano

Day 5-6: Unravel the Truffle & Wine Wonders of Umbria

Embark on a special itinerary along the “truffle track” in northern Umbria, a region renowned for its black and white truffles, to experience the process of digging up truffles, processing them and cooking the treats. Marvel at canine skills during a truffle hunting demonstration with dogs and tour a truffle farm. Enjoy a cooking demonstration by a local chef while learning how to make a typical Umbrian meal featuring truffles. Finally, of course, settle in for a feast. Visit the homeland of the world-famous Sagrantino wine in Montefalco and enjoy a tasting at a renowned wine estate. Settle in for a typical lunch in a local enoteca. Moving on to Torgiano, visit a family-run winery and enjoy the beauty of the countryside, dotted with olive groves and vineyards.

 

Day 5
  • Take in a truffle hunting experience and enjoy an Umbrian truffle meal
Day 6
  • Visit a wine estate in Montefalco, have lunch at a typical enoteca and stop at a family-run winery in Tor-giano

Day 7-8: Marvel at the Landmarks of Assisi and Spello

Your next stop is Assisi, where you embark with a private guide on a tour of the city of St. Francis. Its renowned basilica, built upon the saint’s tomb, is known as the center of Franciscan spirituality, the cradle of medieval European art and an architectural masterpiece that contains some of the finest medieval Italian paintings by the likes of Cimabue and Giotto. Fall under the spell of Spello, the storybook medieval village with white and pink stone houses and the Baglioni Chapel that houses the Renaissance-era fresco by Pinturicchio.

  • Embark on a private guided tour in the village of Assisi, of St. Francis fame, and marvel at the medieval village of Spello
