The owners of Discover Your Italy, Matteo della Grazia and his wife, Daniela Mencarelli, were asked for their advice on what is there to do in the cosmopolitan city of Milan, for travellers, with only limited time.
Whether one is interessted in sightseeing, history, art or fashion, Milan offers plenty of opportunities. One of the city’s most famous highlights is The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci or the Duomo Cathedral, with its amazing view. Alternatively, Castello Sforzesco and Pinacoteca Ambrosiana are suggested, for those who prefer to visit less touristy sights.
As it is the home of many of the major fashion brands, designers and architects, Milan is definetly worth a visit for fashion lovers, especially during Fashion and Design Week, where you can get to see the latest trends.
There is not only a lot to do in the center of Milan but also in the neighbourhoods of the city, like the charming Navigli district with its lovely canals or Isola which is perfect to spend an afternoon in one of its little restaurants and cafes.
In case there is a little bit more time left, visitors may explore the lake district outside Milan, as it takes only an hour by car. Also the Emiglia Romagna Region isn’t far, which puts it in the perfect position for a day trip.
