Tour starts

  • Arrival in Rome in the morning, transfer to your 4 star Hotel located in one of the most beautiful streets of the city centre.

2 ORVIETO-DERUTA

The wonders of Italian Renaissance: from Signorelli’s frescoes to the artisanal ceramics

  • From Rome to Umbria, “the green heart of Italy”.
  • The first stop is Orvieto, an ancient city located on a spectacular cliff drop. Guided tour to the famous Cathedral, a masterpiece of renaissance art with its astonishing polychrome marble façade and wonderful frescos by Luca Signorelli. Visit to the historical centre with its medieval streets and papal palaces up to the mysterious well called “Pozzo di San Patrizio”.
  • Delicious lunch at a characteristic restaurant.
  • TAfternoon dedicated to local craftsmanship. In Deruta, you will visit the oldest and most prestigious workshop with valuable artistic majolica and beautiful traditional Umbrian textile woven on antique looms.
  • In the evening, accommodation in an elegant vintage mansion in a characteristic Umbrian village.

3 ASSISI-SPELLO-MONTEFALCO

The sacred and the profane: The mysticism of Saint Francis and the production of the Sagrantino

  • A full day excursion to Assisi and Spello, “magical” places on the slopes of olive grove hills and vineyards.
  • Guided tour to Spello, a charming medieval town with pink stone buildings. Walk on the streets to admire the city and the beautiful flowered balconies. Visit Pintoricchio’s frescos at the famous Baglioni Chapel.
  • Lunch at Montefalco, with tasting of pecorino cheese, sausages and local renowned Sagrantino wine.
  • In the afternoon, guided tour to Assisi, the city of Saint Francis. Walk through its narrow and shadowed streets, admire its churches and cloisters and visit the beautiful Basilica of Saint Francis, with magnificent frescos by Giotto and Cimabue.   • In the afternoon, visit to the medieval town of Montalcino and the renaissance town of Pienza.

5 PERUGIA

6 FLORENCE

  • A day entirely dedicated to visit one of the cities where the Italian art genius reached its peak and where we can still find the magnificence of products “Made in Italy”: Florence.
  • In the morning, leaving  from Piazzale Michelangelo, a walk through the historical centre and a visit to the major monuments, avoiding crowded places and privileging its most characteristic corners:  the Cathedral with its incredible Dome by Brunelleschi, the Baptistery and the spectacular Bell Tower by Giotto, the austere Piazza della Repubblica and the elegant Piazza della Signoria, the characteristic Ponte Vecchio, and eventually  the Gallerie of the ‘Accademia’ to stand face to face with Michelangelo’s David.
  • In the afternoon, shopping in the most famous shopping outlets of the “Made in Italy” products: Prada, Gucci, Armani, Fendi, Tod’s and many others.

7 SPOLETO-VALNERINA

Masterpieces in grey stone set in the green

  • Trip to Valnerina, a unique and magical territory surrounded by mountains jealously safeguarding its nature, culture and history.
  • In the morning, a guided tour of Spoleto. From the small centre to the magnificent Cathedral located in a spectacular scenic location,  displaying itself at the end of a long narrow staircase. At the top of the hill, visit to the impressive brige “Il ponte della torre and the Rocca (fortress).
  • Arrival in Norcia for lunch. Visit to the city and tasting of the local gastronomic delicacies in a typical restaurant: black truffles, “norcinerie” (ham and sausages), and lentils.
  • In the afternoon, visit to some of the most striking villages in Umbria: Castelluccio, with its scenic esplanade and Preci, with the splendid medieval abbey of Sant’Eutizio.
