Tour start

  • Arrival to Rome in the morning and transfer to your 4 star Hotel located in one of the most beautiful streets of the city centre.
  • During the first afternoon, a welcome cocktail will be provided to you in the hotel after a  preliminary meeting of the tour group and presentation itinerary.
  • Short walk through  the historical centre, to discover the eternal city.

2 ORVIETO-DERUTA

The marvels of Italian Renaissance: from Signorelli’s frescoes to traditional artisan ceramics

  • From Rome to Umbria, “the green heart of Italy”
  • The first stop in Orvieto, an ancient city located on a spectacular cliff drop. Guided tour to the  famous Cathedral, the masterpiece of renaissance art with its astonishing polycrhrome marble façade and wonderful frescoes by Luca Signorelli. Visit to the historical centre with its medieval streets and papal palaces and the mysterious well called “Pozzo di San Patrizio”.
  • Delicious lunch at a characteristic restaurant.

3 ASSISI-PERUGIA

The Middle ages, the power of the wealthy noble families and the mysticism of poor St Francis

  • In the morning, visit to Perugia the striking capital of the Heart of Italy, the city of the “Gryphon” and the “Bacio di Cioccolata”. Guided tour through the beautiful Palazzo dei Priori with the Hall of Notaries, Corso Vannucci, the Fontana Maggiore, the Collegio Del Cambio with the extraordinary frescoes by Perugino and the National Gallery of Umbria with the masterpieces of Gothic art.
  • In the afternoon, guided tour to Assisi, the city of Saint Francis. Walk through its narrow and shadowed streets, admiring its churches and cloisters and visit the beautiful Basilica of Saint Francis, with its magnificent frescos by Giotto and Cimabue.

4 SPOLETO-VALNERINA

Masterpieces in grey stone set in the green

  • Trip to Valnerina, a unique and magical territory surrounded by mountains that jealously safeguard its nature, culture and history.
  • In the morning,  a guided tour of Spoleto. From the small centre to the magnificent Cathedral located in a spectacular scenic location, displaying itself at the end of a long narrow  staircase.  At the top of the hill, visit to the bridge “ Il ponte della torre” and its impressive Rocca (fortress).
  • Arrival  at Norcia for lunch. Visit to the city and tasting of local gastronomic delicacies in  a typical restaurant: black truffles, “norcinerie” (ham and sausages), and lentils.
  • In the afternoon, visit to the most striking villages in Umbria: Castelluccio, with its scenic esplanade and Preci, with the splendid medieval abbey of Sant’Eutizio.
  • Transfer in nearby Marche region, in Ascoli for the evening.

5 ASCOLI PICENO

  • In the morning, visit to Ascoli Piceno. From Piazza del Popolo , with the splendid Palazzo dei Capitani , a stroll through the historic centre, to discover churches, cloisters, hidden towers in every corner. And a short distance, the village of Castel Trosino, clinging to white travertine cliffs, dominating the surrounding valley.
  • To Offida, one of the most beautiful villages of Italy, famous for ‘bobbin-lace’ works.
  • Lunch at a local restaurant, to taste the famous crispy “ascolana fried speciality”.
  • A relaxing afternoon along the coast, for a bicycle trip along the sea or for some shopping in the elegant stores.

6 CASTEL DEL MONTE-TRANI

The Puglia of Frederick II and the Templars

  • Morning transfer to Puglia.
  • On arrival, visit to the Castel Del Monte, UNESCO World Heritage Site, dating back to the 1200’s. A building which is as marvellous from an architectural point of view, as it is mysterious from a functional point of view; a geometric puzzle with a direct like to the mysteries of the Templars.

  • In the afternoon, visit to Trani, a truly medieval-style city, a crossroad of peoples and cultures, with its  wonderful cathedral suspended between the sky  and the sea.

7 ALBEROBELLO

The Valley of Itria and the Villages of the Trulli

  • Visit to Alberobello and the characteristic cone-shaped homes, better known as the ‘Trulli’ and Locorotondo, one of the most beautiful towns in Italy, the rectangular and sloping roofs of the houses, which are always spotlessly white, are known as the ‘Cummerse’.
  • Light lunch with a chance to taste mozzarella cheese and olive oil at a farm shop.
  • Afternoon at Ostuni, the ‘White City’, at the summit of a hill with its breath-taking view of olive-tree orchards.
  • Aperitif and refined dinner at your elegant residence.

8 LECCE

The ‘Florence of the South’

  • In the morning, transfer and visit this beautiful town.
  • Lecce, with its wealth of art, its elegance and culture, is named “The Florence of the South”. Visit to the historic centre, with wonderful monuments in the local Lecce Baroque style, with such a wealth of embellishment and decoration that they appear to be embroidered: the Cathedral, amongst the most beautiful in Italy and the Santa Croce Church, a symbolic monument of the Lecce Baroque period.
  • In the afternoon, after a relaxing break, an Italian cooking class by an expert chef, in a striking context.
  • Dinner with the typical Southern Italian menu previously prepared.

9 SALENTO

The Pearls of the Salento coast: from Otranto to Gallipoli

  • Full day excursion to discover the Salento region: kissed by sun and sea, and once inhabited by the people of Ancient Greece, the “Magna Grecia”.
  • Visit to the ancient town of Otranto: Its narrow streets, harbour, Aragonese Castle. And on the opposite side, facing the Ionian Sea, the picturesque maritime town of Gallipoli.
  • Lunch in a small local restaurant, with freshly caught fish.
  • Visit to the numerous workshops  in the area with arts, crafts, food and wine.

10 MATERA

The City of the ‘Sassi’ (Ancient  stone houses)

  • Morning transfer to Matera. Break at Grottaglie, and visit to the famous ceramics neighbourhood, to admire the craftsmen at work and purchase absolutely original pieces of traditional south Italian majolica.
  • Lunch at the hotel, a traditional house on the “sassi” beautifully restored, on arrival on Matera, the heart of the harsh countryside of Murgia.
  • In the afternoon, a visit to the famous ‘Sassi’, a UNESCO Heritage site: whole neighbourhood excavated into the rock, literally sculpted behind a deep ravine. An inextricable network of tunnels and buildings, literally one on top of the other.

11 PAESTUM

Grand archaeology

  • In the morning, transfer to Campania and visit to the archaeological site of Paestum, another UNESCO Heritage site. Ancient city of Magna Graecia, which preserves superb examples of Greek  temples, in Doric and Ionic styles.
  • Brief stop to taste the very famous Bufala Mozzarella, a recognised symbol of excellence and quality.
  • In the afternoon, a visit to Ravello, the ‘gateway’ to the Amalfi Coast. Visit the villages with its  marvellous houses and breath-taking view of the coast from the famous ‘Infinity Terrace’.

12 AMALFI COAST

The famous “Amalfi drive”: From Amalfi to Positano

  • Full day excursion to the most beautiful and picturesque stretch of the Amalfi Coast:  between Amalfi and Positano.
  • Guided visit to Amalfi: its lively and colourful alleyways, its lemon trees, and its  gorgeous Cathedral.
  • Visit to Positano, pink and fuchsia houses, flowering bougainvillea and picturesque square.

The pearl of the South: covering 2000 years of history
In the morning visit to Pompeii, the city buried by the ashes of Mount Vesuvius in ’79 A.D., approximately 2000 years ago and only recently rediscovered: the Foro, the Ancient Temples, the Thermal Baths, the Market and the Majestic Theatre and the beautiful Roman houses.
Lunch in a typical restaurant,  far away from the touristic crowds.
Afternoon and evening off  to enjoy the beauty of the Amalfi Coast.

14 CASERTA

The Italian Versailles: the Royal Palace of Caserta - End of tour: ROME

  • Return to the departure point of the tour, Rome.
  • On the way, visit to the Royal Palace of Caserta, built in the 1700’s by the order of the King of Naples, to rival the great baroque palaces of his European “colleagues”: the Royal Palace and its Italian Garden.
  • Afternoon off in Rome, for a nice walk in the centre, an ice cream in Piazza di Spagna, or to do last minute shopping for souvenirs.
