Start of Tour
- Arrival in Rome in the morning and transfer to your 4 star Hotel in one of the most beautiful streets of the city centre.
- During the first afternoon, a welcome cocktail will be provided to you in the hotel, after a preliminary meeting of the tour group and presentation of the itinerary.
- Short guided walk though the historical centre, to discover the eternal city.
- Dinner in a typical restaurant of the Roman ‘Dolce Vita’.

2 SPOLETO-VALNERINA
Masterpieces in grey stone set in green
- Transfer in Umbria the ‘heart of Italy’. Trip to Valnerina, a unique and magical territory surrounded by mountains jealously safeguarding its nature, culture and history.
- In the morning, a guided tour of Spoleto. From the small centre to the magnificent Cathedral located in a spectacular scenic location, displaying itself at the end of a long narrow staircase. At the top of the hill, visit the ‘Ponte della Torre’ Bridge and the impressive Rocca (fortress).
- Arrival in Norcia for lunch. Visit to the city and tasting of the local gastronomic delicacies in a typical restaurant: black truffles, “norcinerie” (ham and sausages), and lentils.
- In the afternoon, visit to some of the most striking villages in Umbria: Castelluccio, with its scenic esplanade and Preci, with the splendid medieval abbey of Sant’Eutizio.

3 ASSISI-SPELLO-MONTEFALCO
The sacred and the profane: The mysticism of Saint Francis and the production of Sagrantino wine
- A full day excursion to Assisi and Spello, “magical” places on the slopes of olive grove hills and vineyards.
- Guided tour to Spello, a charming town with pink stone buildings. Walk on the streets to admire the village and its beautiful flowered balconies. Admire Pintoricchio’s frescos in the famous Baglioni Chapel.
- Lunch at Montefalco, with tasting of pecorino cheese, sausages and the renowned Sagrantino wine.
- In the afternoon, guided tour to Assisi, the city of Saint Francis. Walk through its narrow and tidy streets, admire its churches and cloisters and visit the beautiful Basilica of Saint Francis, with magnificent frescos by Giotto and Cimabue. Walk through the places where Saint Francis withdrew to pray: the Hermitage of Carceri and the Convent of Saint Damiano.

- Day to discover ancient arts, crafts and traditions.
- In Bevagna, wonderful medieval citadel, you can admire the production techniques of ‘hand-made’ paper in an old working paper mill. In Deruta, visit the oldest and most prestigious workshops with valuable artistic majolica and beautiful traditional textiles hand woven on antique looms.
- In the afternoon, visit to Perugia, the striking capital of the Heart of Italy, the city of the “Gryphon” and the “Bacio di Cioccolata”. Guided tour of the beautiful Palazzo dei Priori with the Hall of Notaries, Corso Vannucci, the Fontana Maggiore, the Collegio Del Cambio with its extraordinary frescos by Perugino.
- Relaxing evening with a nice dinner in the characteristic restaurant of your hotel.

5 URBINO
The ‘perfect city’ of the Renaissance
- From Umbria to Marche, crossing the centre of Italy.

- Lunch at a farm inn with dishes based on truffles and other local specialities.
- Arrival in Urbino in the afternoon, the ‘perfect city’ of the Renaissance, birthplace of Raphael. Guided visit of the city, the Ducal Palace and the Marche National Gallery, with treasures by Raphael, Piero Della Francesca, Paolo Uccello…

6 SAN LEO-GRADARA
The Montefeltro Castles
- Excursion to discover the land of Montefeltro and the splendid Castles amidst the hills, sky and sea.
- In Gradara, visit to the village and the Castle, with its towers, drawbridges, walkways and arrow slits, but also a rich Renaissance residence, scene of one of the most beautiful stories in Italian literature: The unfortunate love between Paolo and Francesca, as described by Dante Alighieri in his Inferno.
- In San Leo, visit the village and the Fortress, built on a rock spur with walls which overhang the valley.
- Relaxing break at the hotel and later an Italian haute cuisine dinner, at one of the best gastronomic restaurants in the area.

7 CASENTINO
Abbeys and Monasteries
- From Marche to the nearby Emilia Romagna, crossing Tuscany.

- Visit to the two wonderful Monasteries, perched within the forest: the Franciscan Sanctuary of La Verna, with the inspiring cave where St. Francis received his stigmata; the Benedictine Monastery of Camaldoli, where the monks, still today, produce ointments and cosmetics at the antique pharmacy. Lunch in the refectory, together with monks and pilgrims.
- Brief stop at Stia to admire the historic woollen-mills, famous for their woollen crafts.
- In the evening, transfer to Ravenna.

8 RAVENNA
The splendour of the ancient capitals

- Lunch at a local trattoria with typical dishes of the Emilia Romagna region, home of the Tagliatelle and Tortellini.
- Arrival in Parma, elegant city, the capital of good food and opera, with a charming atmosphere. Visit the historic centre on foot: the Cathedral Square with the ‘pink marble’ Baptistery and Cathedral Dome decorated with frescos by Correggio. Visit the historical Theatres, the Farnese Theatre and the Regio Theatre, symbolic venue of Giuseppe Verdi’s music.

9 PARMA-LUCCA
Food and Culture: Parmesan, Ham and Antiques

- Transfer to Tuscany and arrival in Lucca in the afternoon, a jewel in the heart of Tuscany.
- A walk or bicycle ride along the tree-lined city walls. Visit the historic centre: The Basilica of San Frediano and the Cathedral, up to the charming Amphitheatre Square, built on the remains of an ancient Roman theatre, along characteristic medieval streets, famous for its antique dealers.

10 CINQUE TERRE
“The 5 Lands”
- Full day excursion to discover the 5 Lands: 5 miles of rocky coast, covered in vineyards; 5 villages clinging on the cliffs.
- To Riomaggiore by mini-bus, visit to the picturesque marina of tall, narrow, colourful houses.
- Follow the “Trail of Love”, until Manarola, the smallest village of the five.
- After an aperitif with local wines, boat trip to Vernazza, the most picturesque of the villages, with small houses, alleyways and lodges. A marvellous lunch with the freshest of fish and traditional pesto.
- By minibus to Corniglia, the only one of the 5 not directly on the sea, for a last glimpse at the breathtaking landscape.
- Return to Lucca in the evening.

11 PISA
